About Us

The company's President/CEO is Cammie Kane, wife of the late founder. Baltimore's magnificent Harbor, is home to Ed Kane's world famous; one of a kind water transportation system of boats called The Water Taxis. The system has evolved into its present state after over 25 years of operation. We estimate, in that time, we've boarded about 16 million passengers. Phew! We operate anywhere between three to fourteen blue and white boats operating each day (depending on the season). These boats range in size from 26 passengers to 84 passengers and in the course of your day of sightseeing and exploring, you'll be riding in lots of them what fun!

The Water Taxi System can be compared to a bus line on the water ... continual service from all Landings at time intervals of 15 to 20 minutes, in season (April through October). We do run through the winter, weather permitting, but with fewer boats. All boats are covered so a little rain doesn't bother us. Because we operate several different routes, passengers will make transfers throughout the day. It's necessary for you to ask questions of our Mates and Captains upon boarding in order to make sure you're on the right route for your destination.

The ticket you buy onboard is accompanied with a hand stamp and Letter of Marque Ticket with dozens of great discounts. Your ticket is good for all day service and covers all routes and all boats for that day, including your ride to Fort McHenry via boat or on one of our Red Jitneys (in season). An all day ticket allows you to explore attractions and neighborhoods at your own pace. (See Landings)

We are "RECREATIONAL TRANSPORTATION" . That means "getting there" is part of the fun. If you must be somewhere really fast or must leave from the airport in 39 minutes ... we're not for you.! Whenever someone asks us what exact time they can meet a Water Taxi to arrive across the river for dinner at 7:20PM on the dot, we always say an hour ... these people definitely need to chill.
